The Quiet Place
Deep within there is a quite place. When all is peaceful in our life, we can be more aware of the quite place. It can be felt expanding out to fill our being. This may be sensed as a feeling of love, perhaps contentment, perhaps joy. However we may sense it, the particular gift the quiet place can give to us is a deep inner peace and well-being.
This sense of peace can be very fragile. It might be likened to a pool of water. When all is still, its surface is calm. It may be so calm that we can see our own face reflected in it as though in a mirror. But if the gentlest breeze should cause a ripple on its surface, the mirror like quality is gone in an instant. And if a stone should be cast into the pool, the reflection is shattered into a thousand pieces. And yet the pool itself remains.
So it is with the quiet place. When we have no troubles, worries or cares, the quiet place sends a reflection of our true being through our bodies. But should a single worry or concern enter into our minds, then that reflection is disturbed. If one of life's major crisis comes along then that reflection of pure love, peace and joy is gone. Shattered into a thousand pieces.
It is somewhat paradoxical is it not, that at a time when you may most need that calmness and peace it is gone. Shattered into a thousand pieces. But really there is no paradox because although that peacefulness cannot exist where there is chaos, the source of the peacefulness, the quite place, is always there.
The lesson to learn is that of being able to find the quite place when we most need it. When all is calm in your life and you are peaceful and joyful, go within and find the quite place. You will know when you truly find it. And when you do, take a look around and see what your quite place looks like, because no two are the same. Once you have found it, you will always be able to seek refuge there when things get rough. Your own shelter from the storm. A place of refuge.
